Christina Bell and Darrel Walls keep the testimony plain on “Still That Good”

A gospel single about a goodness that did not expire. Bell sings it, Walls answers, and the record refuses to turn the confession into a slogan.

Still, not was

Christina Bell has a voice built for a testimony that does not need a costume. “Still That Good,” with Darrel Walls, out October 2, is that testimony set to a groove. The title is the whole argument: God’s goodness is not a season you age out of.

Play the record

Walls does not decorate the record. He answers it. Two lead voices, a bass that stays in the pocket, drums and keys that know they are in church even when the tempo smiles. Aaron Sledge wrote it and produced it. The mix leaves room for the line to land instead of burying it under a choir stack.

This is a single, not a campaign. Put it on once for the hook. Put it on again for the second voice. If the goodness in the lyric still sounds present tense by the last chorus, the song did what it came to do.
