Practice Block Audit
Diagnose lying blocks; rebuild an honest week.

What a lying block is
A lying block is a calendar rectangle that looks like practice and behaves like avoidance. It is two hours labelled studio that become plugin shopping, playlist rebuilding, or a conversation about the work that never becomes the work.
The audit is not moral. It is diagnostic. You are looking for a mismatch between claimed minutes and closeable artefacts.
How to run the week in reverse
Take last week. For each claimed practice block, write one line: what exists now that did not exist before? A take. A verse. A patched cable. A sent invoice. If the line is empty, the block lied.
Most makers discover they have three honest hours hiding inside twelve theatrical ones.
Rebuild rules
- Name the artefact before you start (one verse demo, mix notes page, forty minutes of loops).
- Time-box shorter than your pride wants. Honest forty beats fake two hours.
- Pair the block with a studio companion mix so the sonic room and the physical room agree.
- Close the tab that is not the work. Gear sites are not warm-ups.
Mentor note
If you share a house, the honest block may be shorter than a video essay suggests. Design for Tuesday. Forgive the collapsed day. Tools can sit in a drawer overnight without becoming a referendum on your character.
What this is not
Not a grind programme. Not a public streak. The only audience for the audit is you and, if you want, a collaborator who already knows your tells.
